ABOUT Cyrene Oraya

Cyrene Oraya Reyes is one of the co-founders of The Pitak Project, a permaculture site in Tubao, La Union, where she and her partner practice and promote sustainable and regenerative living. She is currently the Editor-In-Chief of North Star Magazine, a publication featuring the best practices in ecological living principles, environmental stewardship, and regenerative applications in the Northern Philippines.

She is a staunch environmental activist. Since her early exposure to environmental and social injustices through her NGO work in the Cordillera Region, she has been involved in several advocacy efforts to protect the natural environment and preserve communities through lectures and workshops on Food Security, Basic Environmental Principles, and Community-based Sustainable Tourism, among others. She is currently active in training smallholder farmers on the Regenerative System of Rice Intensification (SRI) as an alternative rice farming method that increases yield and protects the environment.

With a passion for environmental stewardship, she is dedicated to raising awareness about climate action and justice and empowering individuals to make a positive impact on our planet. Through her work in permaculture and regenerative living practices, she strives to inspire others to embrace eco-friendly lifestyles and contribute to building a more resilient and regenerative future for generations to come.
