World Cleanup Day
World Cleanup Day is an annual event celebrated on the third Saturday of September to raise awareness of the need to reduce waste and protect the environment. It was founded in Estonia in 2008 by the Let’s Do It! Foundation. The day is also known as International Cleanup Day.
World Cleanup Day is chosen because it is the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere, a time when people are more likely to be outdoors and active. It is also a time when people are more likely to think about the environment and how they can help protect it.
World Cleanup Day is an opportunity to celebrate nature’s beauty and learn about the threats it faces. It is also a time to take action to protect the environment. There are many things that individuals can do to help, such as reducing their consumption of single-use plastics, recycling, and composting.
