- A plant-covered shopping centre has opened in Shanghai, China which has over 1000 trees and 250 000 plants.
- Each of the concrete columns in the centre, have a planter that that contains a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees including shrubs and hanging plants.
- “It breaks down the monolithic scale of a typical retail development into a multitude of human-scale spaces. I think it will be transformational for people who live and work in this dense residential neighbourhood.” says designer Thomas Heatherwick
