Reading Time: < 1 minute

  • A team at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia has designed a prototype Solar Greenhouse for energy generation and food production with a “zero kilometre” philosophy whereby the food will have been produced and eaten locally.
  • The greenhouse is made of a timber-framed structure with two levels and is topped by glass and solar panels.
  • The plants are grown using hydroponics which allow them to be grown without agricultural soil and LED strip lighting aids growth cycles.
