  • Scientists have developed a public database to estimate the composition of thousands of food products and their impact.
  • The Oxford team estimated the composition of 57,000 foods and drinks and then assessed the impact of growing methods, processing and transport against greenhouse gas emissions and impacts on nature.
  • As a result, supermarket shoppers could soon be checking the environmental impact of food before putting it in their shopping carts.
