Scientists Turn Plastic into Hydrogen by Microwaving It

  • Chemists from the University of Oxford have found a way to convert single-use plastic into a clean source of hydrogen.
  • The plastic is broken into little pieces and mixed with a catalyst of iron oxide and aluminium oxide.
  • Once the mixture is heated in a microwave, the catalysts help the plastic release hydrogen.
