Scientists May Be Able to Fight Global Warming by Supercharging Plankton

  • Scientists are looking at finding ways for phytoplankton to bloom to help increase the amount of oxygen in our atmosphere.
  • They propose that since iron is a good way to get phytoplankton to bloom, they could increase its presence by adding iron bits to iron-deficient parts of the ocean.
  • The more phytoplankton, the more carbon dioxide gets sucked up by the ocean.
