Scientists Discover 224 New Species in the Greater Mekong

  • According to the WWF, 224 plant and vertebrate animal species were discovered in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam in 2020.
  • These findings include 155 plants, 16 fish, 17 amphibians, 35 reptiles.
  • The discoveries are a collaboration of hundreds of scientists, NGOs and various research and academic institutions around the world.
