  • In Queensland, methane is captured by old landfills, tips and dumps where is it burned onsite or fed into an engine that is used to create dispatchable electricity.
  •  Future plans include hybrid systems of landfill methane, with internal combustion engine generators, batteries, and solar.
  • While it is not the best solution, it is said that burning methane (or combusting) converts it into carbon dioxide which is 28 times less damaging than the methane itself.
