  • Moyobamba in Peru is known for charging water tariffs to locals and channelling the funds into conservation initiatives to save its local water sources.
  • Since 2007, the management committee has signed over 60 conservation agreements with farmers living near the watersheds which have agreed to stop deforestation.
  • Over 500 hectares of land around the watersheds have been reforested.
