  • US Department of Energy has invested 25 million dollars to fund 8 new ocean-based energy projects at PacWave South, off the coast of Oregon.
  • Energy developers are creating ocean energy fields whereby mechanical devices are set up to convert the energy of ocean waves into electricity.
  • They are also combing this with the infrastructure set up for wind power by allowing both sources to share transmission cables, onshore substations and other infrastructure.
