Not all EV’s need to be luxury Teslas or a boring Nissan Leaf commuter car! The biggest EV manufacturer in the world is now offering a performance tuned version of the Leaf.
Originally published on Gas2 . Nissan first showed a sporty, Nismo-tuned version of its new Nissan LEAF back in October of 2017. Since then, there hasn’t been much to report — until now. That’s because Nissan has announced that the Nismo LEAF is set to go on sale in Japan as early as July 31st! The new LEAF Nismo model features a sporty Nismo appearance package both inside and out — complete with signature red accents. This is more than just a visual package, however. The LEAF Nismo comes with a set of distinctive, 18″ alloy wheels wrapped with Continental ContiSportContact tires, and features custom settings for the electric power steering, Vehicle Dynamics Control, Intelligent Traction Control, ABS, and motor controller. The result is a car that is stiffer, more responsive, and more fun to drive than its more pedestrian LEAF-y brothers. Is this edgier LEAF what Nissan needs to draw people from the Model 3 ?
