New York City “clarifies” rules, allows pedal-assisted e-bikes under 20MPH

New York has finally clarified rules on e-bikes, allowing pedal assisted e-bikes that move under 20 mph (or 32 kph). This is an excellent move that will help consumers use their bikes more freely, decrease congestion and pollution and give police clear rules on which are or aren’t allowed.

It seemed so odd; at a time when many are falling in love with e-bikes, when Sami says Yes, e-bikes really are magic and I write that E-bikes will eat cars, In New York City the mayor and the police department were on a tear, complaining about e-bikes and taking them off the street.
