National Recycling Day

National Recycling Day is an annual event celebrated on November 15th in America to promote recycling and sustainability. The day was first celebrated in 1994 by the National Recycling Coalition (NRC). The NRC is a non-profit organization that promotes recycling and reduces waste in the United States.

The NRC chose November 15th as the date for National Recycling Day because it is the anniversary of the first Earth Day, which was celebrated on April 22nd, 1970. Earth Day is a day to celebrate the Earth and to raise awareness about environmental issues. The NRC wanted to create a day to focus on recycling, which is one way we can all help protect the environment.

National Recycling Day has grown in popularity over the years. In 2018, the NRC estimated that over 1.5 million people participated in National Recycling Day events across the United States. These events included recycling drives, educational workshops, and community cleanups.

  • There are three types of recycling: Primary recycling is the process of recycling materials into more of the same items (glass bottles into glass bottles).
