  • Over 100 Kenyan farmers were part of a pilot project that helped transition from tobacco to alternative food crop farming.
  • Most farmers said they were happy to move away from such health hazards and towards less labour-intensive and environmentally friendly farming.
  • Under this project, farmers have currently sold 135 tons of beans which are said to help numerous health and development problems.
