Growing Soy on Cattle Pasture Can Eliminate Amazon Deforestation in Brazil

  • Researchers have found that expanding soy cultivation into underutilized cattle pastureland would help prevent massive deforestation and carbon emissions.
  • They found that by doing this, Brazil could produce 162 million tons of soybeans over the next 15 years.
  • This would boost soy production in the Amazon and Cerrado biomes by 35% without deforestation.
