Dubai continues construction on massive solar park

The United Arab Emirates are known for their large-scale constructions, with Dubai being home to the tallest building in the world. Since 2013, they have also been building a huge solar park which is intended to power the homes of those in the country. According to CNN, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is scheduled to be properly completed in 2030. The 5,000-megawatt park will provide 1.3 million homes with power, reducing carbon emissions by 6.5 million tonnes annually. Phase one, two and three have already been completed, with each contributing 13, 200MW and 800MW respectively with the installation of the photovoltaic solar panels. The third phase incorporated panels which are tilted to track the sun, maximising their output. The fourth phase is underway with the fifth phase to follow, adding 950MW and 900MW each. “One of our priorities is ensuring a sustainable supply of energy and water by diversifying energy sources.
