Court Rules That California Bees Can Be Fish And Have The Same Protections

  • A Californian court has rules that for the purposes of a key state conservation law, bees can legally be considered “fish” and given the same protections.
  • This comes after an overruled decisions that the California Fish and Game Commission could not list invertebrates under the California Endangered Species Act.
  • Today, under the states endangered species act, insects and other invertebrates are eligible for protection.
