Cheetah Reintroduction in Malawi Brings Vultures Back to the Skies

  • After cheetahs and lions were reintroduced to Malawi’s Liwonde National Park in 2017, vultures have been seen to make a comeback.
  • Four species of critically endangered vultures have been recorded in the park after an absence of more than 20 years.
  • The comeback of the vultures is likely a result of the carcassess that the big cats leave behind, which the bird feed on.
