Tom Scanlan

Tom Scanlan is a founding member of Pivot Green, an organization connecting people, businesses, and communities with stories and ideas that inspire restorative climate action and social justice. Pivot Green traces its roots to the mid-1970s is five Foundation, whose curbside recycling initiative in Toronto neighbourhoods became the precursor to today's global Blue Box program.

As former Director of is five Foundation and is five Communications, Tom worked with more than 50 charities addressing environmental and social justice issues. He has authored seven urban geography school textbooks and written for the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, and Ottawa Citizen, earning the Ontario Association for Community Living's Media Story of the Year award for a Globe and Mail feature.

Through Pivot Green, Tom continues championing the belief that small lifestyle changes can spark major societal transformation, focusing his work on urban neighbourhoods and social justice within the broader climate movement.
