Ciarán De Buitléar

Ciarán De Buitléar is an Irish writer and gardener based in Stamullen, County Meath. He founded GardeningWell, a family-led wildlife gardening and climate action initiative that encourages people to create gardens and community spaces where nature can return and thrive.

During the COVID-19 lockdown he began restoring a neglected Victorian walled garden in his community. By allowing natural processes to return while growing food organically, the garden gradually became a refuge for pollinators and wildlife, as well as a place for school visits, community learning, and local biodiversity projects.

The story of that transformation became his book Nature’s Acre – An Irish Garden Memoir of Making a Place Where Life Grows.

By day Ciarán works in the technology sector and he is also a trustee of FreeTrees Ireland, supporting the distribution of native trees to communities across Ireland.
