• Researchers from the University of California Merced and University of California Santa Cruz are testing a “solar canal” network in the state by utilizing one of the world’s largest water systems.
  • These canals can also be used as drinking water streams and renewable energy farms.
  • They’ve also found that the shade from solar panels would prevent evaporation and can save the state 63 billion gallons of water annually.
