In an effort to cut down on air pollution, the German government will be making public transportation free later this year. The campaign will take place in several cities, including Bonn, Essen, Reutlingen, Mannheim, and the town of Herrenberg. The idea was first proposed in a letter penned by three ministers in the German government and sent to European Environment Commissioner Karmenu Vella, according to a DW Akademie report.
